Ladue News Designer Show House 2014

For the 3rd year in a row I participated in the Ladue News Designer Show House . Last year I did the great room of a turn of the century maison in the Central West End. This year, the house selected was in the Briarcliff subdivision of Ladue. I did the master bedroom suite which included a walk in closet. I have been busy working on a central west find condo that has a very masculine vibe so I thought I would switch things up & do something using a feminine narrative .

The design & execution period was shorter this year than previous years which put limitations on the amount of customization I could apply, however, off the rack is not my style. I had an exuberant silk headboard custom made with the inspiration in form being a perfume bottle. The closet was fitted with lucite rods hanging from decorative chains & for the preview party, I staged the closet with designer clothing generously on loan from The Vault.

The room featured a pair of serpentine chests by Dorothy Draper & a wall mounted, marble top console with a rare lucite chair by Lorin Jackson for Grosfeld House ( c. 1939). The silk rugs in the room & closet were Barbara Barry designs. The room lived up to my expectations in being glamorously luxe & serene.
